Sustainable Action (SA) is a Community Based Organization (CBO)

Registered in 2014

Started earlier than 2014 by a group of CHVs who identified adolescent & young people’ challenges during HH Visits

SA aims to create an enabling environment – Adolescents and young people, particularly for girls and young women to realize their potential and participate to promote sustainable change

Target population -: adolescent girls and young women living with HIV, teenage mothers, adolescent girls and young women in school and out of school, including adolescent girls and young women who are household heads and living with other younger siblings under their care.

Organization Structure

The organization is run by a board that is made up of 9 voluntary people with different areas of expertise.

It is coordinated through one coordinator who reports directly to the board.

The coordinator gives overall technical support to the organization, supported by volunteer officers ( 1 Nursing Officer, 3 Mentors, 1 Finance Assistant & 1 Office Assistant)

Area of coverage - covering Karemo, Uranga and Boro regions, originally Divisional administrative areas (Currently Alego Usonga Sub County)

Strategic Area 1: Health

Strategic Objective: To improve health and well- being of communities by reducing the impacts of HIV and Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR) among adolescents and women of reproductive age.

Sustainable Action operates a medical clinic that supports the treatment of minor ailments (Level 1), including health education activities in primary schools, at the household and community.

Strategic Area 2: Education

Strategic Objective: To empower children and youth through life skills education & mentorship to improve quality of education.

Strategic Area 3: Economic Empowerment

Strategic Objective: To improve economic situation by way of unlocking economic opportunities.

Sustainable Action is actively engaged in composite flour formulation (Porridge Flour), aimed at creating financial support to the group activities.
